MAINTENANCE/SERVICE CALLS:

We have two types of collection systems--grinders (Old Lake, New Lake, and Goose Lakes primarily) and gravity/vacuum (everyone else).   

Grinder users (primarily those at New Lake, Old Lake, & Goose Lake) will know they have a problem when they see an illuminated red alarm light on their grinder control box and/or hear the grinder's audible alarm.  When this occurs, please call us immediately--day or night--as waiting only increases the severity of the problem causing the alarm.  AND....DISCONTINUE USING ANY WATER-PRODUCING FACILITIES UNTIL THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED!

Gravity/Vacuum users who experience any type of draining or flushing problem, should do the following before calling us for service:

  • Check your air intake (candy cane pipe) by removing the top portion and looking inside.  If sewage is visible, call us!
  • If there is sewage on the ground around your air intake, call us!
  • If your air intake makes a noise longer than 15-20 seconds per event (occurs when toilets are flushed or water is draining from sinks, bathtubs, dishwashers, washing machines, etc.), call us!

Otherwise....call a plumber for the following:

  • Air intake is broken, call a plumber!  (You must also call us as any repair requires a permit and an on-site inspection by our staff!)
  • Drains are draining slowly or being sucked dry, call a plumber!
  • Toilets are gurgling or not flushing properly, call a plumber!
  • You have a sewer odor inside your home, call a plumber! (But....check your roof vents first for obstructions!)

From 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weekdays only:
Call 260-691-2820 for service.  

From 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. evenings and all weekends and holidays:

Call 260-609-9680 for 
Emergency-service.

DO NOT WAIT..... 

Call immediately if you have a grinder alarm/light!   

Call immediately if there is sewage inside your air intake or on the ground around it or if you hear a noise lasting more than 15-20 seconds per event (see above) inside your air intake!

We have a maintenance technician on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency-only calls.  We can normally respond to your call within 45-60 minutes.  Waiting to call us may increase the severity of the problem and make repair and/or restoration of service that much longer for you and more difficult for our maintenance techs.
If you live in the Goose Lake, Old Lake, or New Lake areas, you are being serviced by a Meyer's grinder pump.  Unlike a vacuum system, these pumps actually grind up  waste before sending it into the force mains and on to the lift stations.  Because of that, there are some things which you should never introduce (flush) into our system.  


NEVER - EVER INTRODUCE (FLUSH/DRAIN) ANY OF THESE INTO OUR SYSTEM!

                          --Explosives
                          --Flammable materials
                          --Oil
                          --Grease
                          --Strong chemicals
                          --Gasoline
These items will damage your grinders and interrupt
service to any/all homes on that grinder!  NEVER, EVER
FLUSH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

--Glass of any type
--Metal of any type
--Plastic toys, utensils, etc.
--Sanitary napkins or tampons - WE SEE LOTS OF THESE!
--Seafood shells
--Baby wipes or diapers - WE SEE LOTS OF THESE TOO!
--Cloth or disposable rags - AND SOME OF THESE!
--Clothing  
--Any product advertised as 'safe for septic tanks'

Repairs to grinders may be charged back to the users of the grinder if we find that the problem was created because of repeated misuse!
REMODELING.....REBUILDING.....REPAIRING.....
TEARING DOWN.....DISCONNECTING.....RECONNECTING

Any time you are doing anything to any structure upon your lot, ALWAYS call us first to see whether or not you need a permit to disconnect, reconnect, or alter/repair the sewer line.  Any work done in/on/around your sewer line will require that we be on site to inspect the work as it is being done.  Failure to do this work properly can result in lateral line damage, collection pit/grinder pit damage, or other system damage for which you could be held financially responsible.  A quick phone call to us before doing anything can avoid any potential problems. And remember....we must have at least a four-hour notice to be on site for any lateral line work.  Inspections are normally scheduled Monday through Friday and rarely on weekends except for special situations that are requested and approved in advance.
